After missing yesterdays sunrise I decided to head down to Felixstowe seafront just before 7 this morning to get a few pics, staying near the pier I got some nice photos with the best being inland as the clouds turned pink although is was nice when the sun came up over the horizon:) Then home for breakfast.
With a good wind from the west and a balmy 14 degrees I was keen to get out windsurfing as the temperature is set to drop on Friday. I was not in any hurry so had time to do my exercises before setting off for Levington Marina at 11 in wall to wall sunshine with Mag coming down later on the bus and walking with lunch, she is a star:) With ow water around two there the only way to launch is out of the marina channel which is easy in a westerly. There was some marina pontoons in the way but I could get my trailer to the launch spot and parked near the large crane. The foil board was quickly set up and it looked fairly breezy out on the water so took a chance with my 5.5 which was fine for the two hour session eveb with some big gusts comig through! I tried for a decent hour but the wind was too up and down but got some decent long runs and some nice gybes:) I started off doing short runs across the corner before the wind turned slightly and I could sail right down to Felixstowe docks, hangaing on at times but brilliant in the warm sunshine, just me, a few yachts with the highlight being a flock of avocets:) After gybing close to Felixstowe docks I tried for some fast miles but failed as went in a few times pushing it too hard:) Getting knackered I decided to head back especially as the wind had eased. I landed with no problem with the tide still low and discovered Mag was waiting at the van. A quick shower followed by lunch in the van before packing up as the sun was setting, again some top skys, great day I got to to she the sunrise and set with a top windsurfing session inbetween:)
